Uniform Fitting

Thursday Sep 13th

We are still in need of 2 volunteers this Thursday the 13th (7:45am to 10:00am) to help fit students in their Marching Band Uniforms! No prior seamstress knowledge is needed! By Thursday, the students will have been sized and given their garment assignments. Thursday during class we will work to make sure the uniform fits their body. We want these kids lookin' reeeeeeeeeeaaal sharp!

If you are available to help, please shoot me an email and I will bring you up to speed.

Students who do not already have one will receive their Marching Band pep shirts this Thursday as well. Please make sure your child has black dress shoes and Socks for our uniformed marching performances. Nothing so quickly degrades our uniforms like white socks and sneakers.

We are in need of several families to volunteer in providing dinner for our students. They serve this community quiet a lot and it would be wonderful to show our appreciation through a hot meal. If you are able to help, please contact Sherri Nohl.

UPDATES: Fall Athletic Band Performance Schedule

Flex-able Performances:

After having all students initially sign up for 1 game (or more if they would like) I have discovered we do not need to make two volleyball game performances mandatory. The requirement will be changed to only one volleyball performance - If this high level of voluntary participation continues basketball pep band may not be required. (I do think there is value in every student attending at least one game for the experience, but I digress...)

*At the end of fall pep/marching band season, performance attendance will be sent to our Activities Director, Regina Wood and students will be given service hours for their participation!

MSU Marching Band Showcase:

This event will take place at Bobcat Stadium Saturday, October 6 at 3:00pm.

Here is a schedule (est.) of how Saturday will look...

12:30pm Report to PHS Football Field for Marching Rehearsal

1:15 Change into Uniform, Pack, and Load Equipment

1:45 Depart for MSU's Bobcat Stadium

2:30 Arrive, Unload, and Warmup

3:00 Performances by Park High, Belgrade, Flathead High, and the MSU Spirit of the West Band.

4:00 Clinics and Masterclasses with MSU Faculty/Staff/Section Leaders

5:00 Load Buses to Park High 5:45 Arrive at Park High, Unload and Clean up 6:00 Dismissal

*I can already tell we will need some parent support to pull this off. Distributing snacks, hot chocolate, hand warmers, schlepping gear, cheering for you band at the performance! You know, band stuff! More specifically, we will need to transport a lot of percussion equipment (marimbas/amps/drums) so if anyone has a water-resistant trailer we could borrow - It would save us from having to rent one!

MSU Marching Band Showcase Scheduling Conflicts: Volleyball @ Miles City

Girls Soccer @ Laurel 4pm

Boys Soccer @ Laurel 6pm

SAT Test @ Park High Library (7:30am to 1:30pm): Students taking this test should be finished before we leave to MSU.

*If you (the student) are involved in either of these activities, please contact me if you haven't done so. Like we've spoken about, it is hard to perform a marching band show with "holes" and good communication will increase our chance of success.

This is a "Course-Required Performance" but students with school-related absences will be given the chance to make up the performance with an extra "flexable" or "non-required" athletic band performance.

There are many variables that come into play when selecting which activities we participate and not participate in. I trust your decision within this conflict is thoughtfully conceived and can be firmly stood behind so I may stand along side your decision. - Stannard

All-Northwest Band, Wind Symphony, & Jazz Auditions

Due October 1st

Individual student auditions for the All-Northwest Band Festival are due to garrett.stannard@livingston,k12,mt,us

by October 1st.

Auditions materials can be found here:

At Park High by far, your best opportunity to be accepted into the biennial All-Northwest Conference is through auditioning for the "All-NW HS Wind Symphony". This ensemble is exclusively made up of students from schools with a population of 500 or fewer. Past students, Cameron Reichert (Spokane '15, Seattle '17), Hailey Hallstead (Seattle '17) Christian Garcia (Spokane '15), and Lexi Klawitter (Spokane '15) have participated. Go for it! "You miss all the shots you don't take."
